Life of a candle is determined by the type of fuel, the condition of the engine, the operating times and the engine temperature. With 4-stroke engines from 250ccm, the candles should be cleaned or replaced after 6000km. With less cubic capacity, especially 2-stroke, approx. Every 2500km. After this mileage, carbon deposits lead to starting difficulties and a loss of power due to the spark plug. Increased short-distance operation and poor engine oil quality can shorten the intervals.
